Growing Concerns
The Flyway Collection by Maluna addresses a growing crisis: the need to protect North America's flyways, which are vital natural resources for waterfowl and other wildlife. This issue affects not only hunters but all outdoor enthusiasts, and it's rapidly becoming a critical concern as non-consumptive tourism and activities increase at a rapid pace.
How many people use the North American Flyways?
The North American Flyways are used by millions of Americans. Whether that is through consumptive use like hunting and fishing, or through non-consumptive use like bird watching, photography, and nature observers.
How is protection of these flyways funded?
This issue was not something we discovered, but rather a combination of different conversations with people and groups in this space. Stan Tekiela- world-renowned naturalist, author, and wildlife photographer highlighted a critical issue:
The number of hunters is declining in the US, while the number of outdoor enthusiasts who do not hunt is rapidly increasing.
Hunting is what funds access and conservation efforts, but there is no reliable revenue stream for preserving these areas for non-consumptive users.
Preserving the flyway ecosystem and ensuring access for “non-consumptive” users—birders, photographers, wildlife enthusiasts, and nature observers—is equally important and necessary, but with the number of hunters is declining these conversations needs to gain awareness so we can maintain these beautiful landscapes.
What has been done?
The Maluna Flyway Campaign, in collaboration with Stan Tekiela’s Nature Smart educational platform, workshops, and tours, is planting the seeds to address these urgent issues and move toward solutions that will ensure the future of our natural resources and the availability for all to enjoy.
MOSS GREEN
Moss Green is the newest full color to the Maluna line. Inspired by the mossy bottomlands of Arkansas, and the temperate rainforests on the Northwest Coast, Moss Green captures the natural beauty that nature offers across the United States.
MALLARD
Mallard is our second two tone cooler in our line. Inspired by the most well-known duck in North America, Mallard has our desert tan base with the moss green lid inspired by the vibrant green head of a mallard drake.
PINTAIL
Pintail is our third two tone cooler in our line. Inspired by another well-known duck in North America, Pintail has the new moss green base with the desert tan lid inspired by green marshy grasslands and the tan feathers of pintail ducks.
