Additional cooler tips to make ice last longer
Check out these tips to make ice last longer and to keep your stuff chilled longer.
Different types of Ice
Hollow Ice or Ice with holes
You will find that most ice you buy at a grocery, liquor or convenient store have holes in it. This is partly by design because this ice takes up more volume and has more exposed surface area to melt faster. The faster your ice melts, the more ice they sell!
Solid cubes and blocks of ice
The best ice you can get is solid cubes or blocks of ice. Blocks of ice can be bought at grocery, liquor and convenient stores or you can make them at home. Recycle old water, milk and juice jugs by filling them with water and freezing them ahead of time.
Dry Ice
For long extended trips, dry ice may be the ticket to keeping things cold even longer. Dry ice is a tool amongst cooler users who are looking to save more space for goods going on long trips. Typically used for wild game or long road trips with food, this is an excellent tool in the right situation. We do not recommend using this for drinks or small trips.
